Diogo Jota has returned to Liverpool and while all the attention is on who Jurgen Klopp might sign, the Portuguese is set for a big season.

Writing in his training camp diary, Pep Lijnders paid special homage to Jota: "We are just arriving up into the mountain for our team dinner while I’m writing.

"Probably schnitzel again, but that’s not bad at all. While I’m sitting here and writing, Diogo just shook me ‘awake’ saying hello. It’s great to see him – fresh, fit and ready.

"Our pressing monster just arrived! Haha!"

All jokes aside, Liverpool will be delighted to have the 24-year-old back from holiday and the EUROs unscathed. His first season simultaneously went perfectly and terribly wrong.

After arriving from Wolves for a fee reported to be in the region of £45million (€52m), Jota got off to a flying start scoring on his debut against Arsenal and until December, everything was going swimmingly.

He then picked up an unnecessary knee injury and missed 82 days and 19 games as a result.

Yet, he still finished the season with 13 goals and 1 assist - not bad for just 1763 mins.

While Liverpool need to sign a new forward because Jota is Sadio Mane's competition and cover, I think many fans (myself included) are forgetting just how important having him fit the entire season will be.

With over three weeks until the first game of the Premier League season, Jota has plenty of time to get into shape and as Lijnders' training camp diary shows, the coaching staff is delighted to have him back.
