Report: Liverpool can complete stunning signing for £85.7million

Liverpool have been told they can complete a stunning move to sign Darwin Nunez for £85.7million but a bid is yet to be submitted to Benfica.

The 22-year-old is highly likely to leave Portugal this summer and continue his rapid ascent in European football.

Liverpool and Manchester United are the strongest contenders but Atletico Madrid have also shown an interest.

With 34 goals this season, he's a prolific forward and an impressive 6 goals of that tally came in the UEFA Champions League, proving he can do it at the highest level.

There are concerns over his linkup play but there is time to improve in that regard as he's just 22.

According to Correio da Manha, Benfica have yet to receive a bid but Liverpool and co. have been told they can sign him for €100 million (£85.7million).

He seems like a typical Jurgen Klopp no.9 as he works incredibly hard but he's also able to play on the left wing although Luis Diaz is likely to nail that position down if Sadio Mane leaves.

The Colombian has been excellent and proves that signing players from the Primeira Liga is not as risky as it used to be.

Much like Nunez, he shone in the Champions League as well which made it more likely he would not battle with the transition to the Premier League.

While the Uruguayan might suit Liverpool, it's not like the Reds to pay more than £50m for new signings unless they are quite obviously going to transform Klopp's side.

Think of Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker.

Does Nunez promise the same potential?

Perhaps he could explode into life at Anfield but paying €100million for him seems like a risk that FSG have shown they're unwilling to take.

If Liverpool are going to beat Manchester United to his signature, it's going to need to be for less than what Benfica are currently demanding.
