Transfer expert Ian McGarry recently revealed that Bukayo Saka and his agents are open to a move to Liverpool and now Noel Whelan has told Football Insider he can see him at Anfield.
The young Gunner was fantastic last season when he got 7 goals and 10 assists but this season, with Mikel Arteta beginning to get his ideas across to his squad, Saka is flying under the Spaniard and could break personal records.
He’s already matched his 7 goals from last season and while he only has 4 assists so far, he has moved towards a role more focused on him getting closer to goal and in many ways is Arsenal’s Mohamed Salah.
Of course, there is no player quite like the Egyptian but Saka is the focus of their attack on the counter-attack and more often than not, is their out ball and as he showed against Man City, he has the finishing to finish big chances in huge games.
I recently took a look at how Saka might fit in at Liverpool and while I believe he could be a great signing for Jurgen Klopp with his pace, movement and massive potential all key factors, he and Salah might be too similar…
Ian McGarry recently revealed: “Liverpool would provide the opportunity and platform for him to play and compete at the highest level. And that would certainly be something that I’m told he and his representatives are very interested in.”
He said: “Absolutely, I can see him at Liverpool. I don’t think it was that long ago that they were trying to tempt him over to Anfield when he was running out of contract at Arsenal.
“We have seen the development in Saka – he’s now one of the best wingers in the Premier League.
“The way he gets on the ball, the way he dictates a game, he’s very much a Liverpool style player.
“However, it seems to be that Mikel Arteta is building something really quite special at Arsenal right now. I’m sure the club won’t want to let him go for any money and show their strength in the market.
“They’ll want to show they’re not a selling club and really continue with this rebuild.”
