An “agreement is possible” between Liverpool and Bayern for Sadio Mane, Florian Plettenberg reports, after claims were made of a €30million + bonus offer for the forward.
In 2022, no Liverpool attacker performed better for club and country.
The Senegal star won three trophies and took his tally for the season to 21 goals in all club competitions.
It’s no surprise Bayern are prepared to sign Mane as a potential replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who is trying to force a move away from the Allianz Arena.
While his pace has deteriorated a bit in the last two years, Mane remains an elite goalscorer and he is now drawing on his experience more than ever.
At 30, he’s a Premier League veteran and a Liverpool legend.
- On May 9th, Sky Sports reporter, Florian Plettenberg, said that Bayern sporting director, Hasan Salihamidžić, wanted Mane in the summer. At the time, no talks between and Liverpool had taken place.
- On May 23rd, he then reported that Mane could “really imagine” joining Bayern and that there had been “movement in talks”. At the time, the fee was expected to be lower than €50m.
- On May 29th, talks were “ongoing and confirmed” between the forward and Bayern. His sources claimed a three-year contract was discussed. Less than a week since his previous update, Plettenberg reported that a “€30m + bonus” offer is on the table for Liverpool to consider.
Significantly, the Sky Sports journalist states an “agreement is possible” at that price point even though the consensus is that Liverpool would not sell for less than €50million.
This follows a report from Sky Sports in Germany stating that Liverpool have been made an offer worth €30million with over €9million in add-ons.
Mane has already agreed personal terms with Bayern and so it does seem as though it’s a matter of time until he joins the Bundesliga outfit.
Whatever happens this summer, one thing will never change…
Sadio Mane is a legend at Liverpool Football Club.
His role in helping Jurgen Klopp take the Reds from plucky underdogs to one of the most successful squads in Europe cannot be understated.
The 30-year-old was signed to inject pace to the Liverpool starting XI and to add a goal threat from out wide. It’s safe to say he over-delivered.
Sadio Mane will depart with the following trophies:
- Champions League
- UEFA Super Cup
- Premier League
- FIFA Club World Cup
- Carabao Cup
- FA Cup
Legend.
