Photo: ‘Here we go!’: Fabrizio Romano confirms Luis Diaz signs Liverpool contract worth £23.4m ahead of £50m move

Luis Diaz is going through the steps all players take before they are officially announced as a new Liverpool player and the Colombian is currently signing his contract it would seem.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the 25-year-old is in the final stages before the club will be able to announce him as a Red.

The Italian confirmed that it’s not fake, tweeting: “Here’s new Liverpool signing Luís Diaz after completing first part of medical in Argentina, ready to pen his contract until June 2027.

“Agreement reached between clubs for €40m guaranteed fee upfront plus €20m add ons. Paperworks to be completed soon.

“Here-we-go!”

Jurgen Klopp is going to have a lot of fun with him and while I wouldn’t be surprised if the former Atletico Junior star needed time to adjust to the German’s demanding tactical system, once he’s adjusted, he’s going to be a handful for Premier League defenders.

His finishing, pace and dribbling alone could give the Merseysiders a boost but his clever movement and awareness are underrated as well.

The Colombian has signed a contract worth £23.4million or the equivalent of £90,000 a week (£4.68million a season), according to Simon Mullock, via Paisley Gates.

His move to Anfield is worth a total of €60million (£50m).

Liverpool are 9 points behind Manchester City in the Premier League title race but I, like a number of other fans, can’t help but feel the Diaz signing gives the Reds that extra boost to chase the champions down.

As things stand, Jurgen Klopp’s men have a game in hand against Arsenal which, if won, would take them one win closer to Pep Guardiola’s side and with a game at the Etihad in April beckoning, it feels as though a genuine title race is brewing.

Luis Diaz is a special player and one that can inspire Liverpool to fight for the title this season.

In the Champions League, Liverpool are always a side with a chance and Diaz only further increases their danger factor.

Whether it’s a tap-in from a Trent Alexander-Arnold cross at the far post or speeding past  defenders to race onto a through ball from Thiago Alcantara, the Colombian seems likely to score at least one or two goals for the Reds in the Champions League knockouts.

He decimated ManchesterCity last season to prove that he can handle big sides in Europe and what I wouldn’t give to see the 25-year-old recreate that goal to knock them out of the competition this season.
