Agent sends Twitter into a frenzy with ‘exciting’ message about ‘official club announcement next week’

KIRKBY, ENGLAND - MARCH 18: (THE SUN OUT, THE SUN ON SUNDAY OUT) Owen Beck of Liverpool during a training session at AXA Training Centre on March 18, 2021 in Kirkby, England.

Avalon Sports Group agent Saad Wadia sent Twitter into a frenzy on Friday as he teased supporters with a cryptic message about an ‘official club announcement next week.’

The transfer window has reached the point where supporters are hoping to see new signings announced and this excitement has been played upon by Saad Wadia.

The agent was at Kirkby this week and teased an ‘official club announcement next week’ although, as This is Anfield has reported, the reality might not be what fans are hoping for.

Wadia cryptically tweeted: “Exciting day at LFC training ground. Official club announcement next week.”

He accompanied his cryptic message with strategically placed red dots to conceal his client’s identity before Liverpool make their official announcement.

This is Anfield suggests that the announcement could be to do with a long-term contract for Own Beck, Ian Rush’s great-nephew.

Jack Lusby writes for TIA: “But the most likely outcome is possibly less exciting for most, though it could be a hugely positive deal for the club moving forward.”

Beck is just 18 but he was a regular for the Liverpool U23 side last season and is now set to commit his future to the Merseyside outfit.

Liverpool making significant Academy moves

Beck’s long-term contract is the latest move from Liverpool to bolster their Academy’s ranks after they unofficially secured Fatawu Issahaku’s signature ahead of his loan move to Sporting Lisbon.

The Ghanian rejected Manchester United to join the Reds and although it will be a while before he is on show at Anfield, he is a ‘ferocious attacking talent‘ and someone to keep an eye on.

Liverpool have also agreed to sell Liam Millar to Basel for a fee in the region of £1.3million and have also included a 20% sell-on clause to protect them from missing out on a spike in his market value down the road.

In other Academy news, Remi Savage has joined Newcastle United on a free transfer after his Liverpool contract expired at midnight on Wednesday.
