On this day in 2018 Liverpool signed Alisson Becker from AS Roma in a deal worth up to £66m (€72.5 million)
A fan favourite since his arrival, Alisson has helped guide Liverpool to every trophy possible.
The Brazilian has developed into one of the world’s best between the sticks and has been the foundation for the Reds’ success.
After four years he’s totalled 183 games, six trophies, THAT goal against West Brom and currently stands as the best goalkeeper in the Premier League.

Alisson’s achievements at Liverpool (so far…)
Having won every trophy at Liverpool to date, it’s fair to say Alisson has endured a highly successful period at Liverpool.
Outside of the team accolades, the 29-year-old has earned individual awards such as World’s Best Goalkeeper in 2019, the Yashin Trophy in 2019, 2x Premier League Golden Glove winner, 2x FIFA Pro World XI and PFA Team of the Season in 2021/22.
All of those pale in comparison to the Liverpool Goal of the Season award he won in 2020/21.
His incredible header against West Brom secured Liverpool Champions League football for the 2021/22 season as he joined an exclusive club of goalkeepers in Premier League history who have all scored.

The former Roma keeper has also come up with huge saves at big moments in the games – as all top keepers do.
Back in the 2018/19 Champions League group stages, Liverpool needed three points to secure their passage to the knockout stages and led Napoli 1-0 at Anfield.
In added time at the end of the match, Arkadiusz Milik found space for a shot just yards out from goal – Alisson closed the angles incredibly to deny the would-be heartbreak goal.
That moment was key as Liverpool went on to win the club’s sixth Champions League trophy as a result.

There were also five saves against Barcelona in the semi-final and a further eight in the final against Tottenham – capping off the most successful season of his career in 2019.
Not to forget that his save percentage has never dipped lower than 72.2% in the four seasons he’s spent at Anfield.
Signed as the world’s most expensive goalkeeper – he lost that record just days later as Chelsea signed Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Since then, every Liverpool would agree that Alisson has been worth every single penny.
