Sky Sports' training ground footage reveals huge Liverpool team news boost

Liverpool welcomed Cody Gakpo back from injury today as the Reds got back into training as a full squad after the international break.

The Dutchman suffered a knee injury while scoring the equaliser against Spurs. As a result, the silky former PSV Eindhoven star missed the Europa League win over Union SG and the Premier League draw with Brighton.

With the Reds back at the AXA Training Centre today, Sky Sports revealed footage from the sessions, reporting on some of the players that were in attendance.

With Andy Robertson injured, Kostas Tsimikas is reportedly "expected" to start although this is a fairly straightforward assumption. He's fit and he's the only other senior left-back at Jurgen Klopp's disposal.

Five key players back in training today for Liverpool

Sky Sports' footage from AXA Training Centre today reveals that Klopp also has his South American stars back in training.

Luis Diaz (Colombia), Darwin Nunez (Uruguay), Alexis Mac Allister (Argentina) and Alisson Becker (Brazil) have returned from their nations' FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

With Gakpo back in training as well, Klopp will be happy to have five key players at his disposal. The South American players may not all start especially Darwin Nunez after he admitted to playing with cramp during his inspired display against Brazil.

It would be a pity if Nunez doesn't start against Everton as the 24-year-old is in incredible form at the moment.

He may have been criticised for every mistake he made last season by the wider media and opposition fans online, but the former Benfica forward is beginning to find consistency for club and country.

After scoring a 91st minute penalty to salvage a point for Uruguay against Luis Diaz's Colombia, he scored and assisted against Brazil to win the game on Wednesday morning.

Luis Diaz had a difficult time on international duty with his Colombian outlet El Spectador reporting the Reds winger has been the target of online abuse following uninspired performances.

Diaz struggled as slumped to two draws with Uruguay and Ecuador.

Alexis Mac Allister shone as Argentina overcame Paraguay and Peru 1-0 and 2-0 respectively.

Alisson Becker was once again unused in favour of Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson by Brazil coach Diniz.

Everton fixture hugely important for three reasons

Liverpool need a win against Everton.

cody gakpo liverpool premier league

First and foremost, it's the Merseyside derby. If Liverpool drop points, it will bug me until the 16th of March 2024 when they play again at Goodison Park.

Second of all, the last two games have been hugely frustrating. Spurs was a downright robbery in the VAR fiasco before dropping two points away to Brighton. A win over Everton will improve confidence levels and restart the next batch of club games in the right manner.

Lastly, if Liverpool are hoping to keep pace with Spurs, Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League title race, a win on Saturday is non-negotiable.

Everton are lagging behind their bitter city rivals in 16th place just seven points above the relegation zone.

Klopp and his players will be aware of how charged up the Blues will be so it should be a cracking game.
