Liverpool Injury Latest: Mo Salah, Szoboszlai, Tsimikas and Bajcetic Update

Liverpool are reeling from a 3-1 defeat to Arsenal in the Premier League but for the first time in awhile, the Reds are close to having a fully fit squad.

With Thiago Alcantara returning to action, the tides are turning on the injury front for Jurgen Klopp. The German was able to call on his Spanish maestro for the first time this season when he was brought on against the Gunners in the 85th minute.

Now, only four players remain on the physio's table. Here is the latest available info on their condition and potential date to return to action, as reported by the London Evening Standard.

Mohamed Salah

Injury: Hamstring

Return date: N/A

Games missed: Two

Despite the confusion caused by his return to England during AFCON, Salah IS injured and will not feature in the next couple of games for Liverpool.

He sustained a hamstring injury during the continental tournament but there is no confirmed date for his return to action.

Speaking to the press before the Chelsea game, Klopp told the media last week: "Mo is not ready for this game [against Chelsea on January 31], not ready for the next game and then not.

“He is injured, I'm not sure if that was a misunderstanding in the beginning. He is injured and a muscle injury takes time. It could have been much worse but he is not available in the moment, he is just doing his rehab."

The forward posted a video on 31 January 2024 of him running on the grass at the AXA Training Centre. Hopefully he can return ASAP as his teammates need him.

Dominik Szoboszlai

Injury: Hamstring

Return date: N/A

Games missed: One

Dominik Szoboszlai returned from his initial hamstring injury to feature as a goalscorer against Chelsea during the 4-1 win last week but was ruled out of the Arsenal match with a similar problem.

It's a concern for Liverpool as Szoboszlai has been a key player for them since his £60 million move to Anfield in the summer.

Speaking on Sunday after defeat to Arsenal, Klopp said: “Dom felt in the same area, or pretty much a similar area, to where he was injured before.

“Not in the game, he was fine, and then after the game [he felt it] slightly so we had a look at it and there was now no chance for him to be involved in this game.”

Kostas Tsimikas

Injury: Broken collarbone

Return date: N/A

Games missed: 10

Klopp says that "Kosti is close" to returning to injury after a broken collarbone ensued during a Premier League encounter with Arsenal earlier in the season.

“Kosti is actually fit, Kosti just has to wait now for the green light because the bone healing takes much longer, but the plate is doing the job in the moment.

"Now we have to figure out when is one taking enough over, let me say it like that. And then he's in training as well. He was not out that long, like Trent was not, like Dom was not."

Stefan Bajcetic

Injury: Calf

Return date: N/A

Games missed: 28

Bajcetic hasn't played a single game for Liverpool this season but is now finally closing in on a return to training.

His return closely follows Thiago's own return from a season-long layoff.

Last month, Klopp said: "They [Thiago and Bajcetic] will not be ready for the end of this month.

“It will probably be going into the next month to train with us. But both [with] no complications, progressing."

Ben Doak and Joel Matip are also on the sidelines but have much longer injury timelines.
