Liverpool hit with huge blow as Diogo Jota set to miss two weeks through injury

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Diogo Jota will be sidelined for around two weeks due to an injury he sustained ahead of this week's game against Everton.

This setback comes as Liverpool prepares for their final Merseyside derby, with Klopp leading the team to Goodison Park in search of three crucial points.

Jota's absence is a significant blow to Liverpool's plans, as he was expected to feature in the upcoming fixture.

He scored in Sunday's win over Fulham but will now be out of action for the next couple of weeks.

Klopp shared the injury news during his pre-match press conference, indicating that Jota had felt a minor issue which turned out to be more serious than initially thought.

"Unfortunately, yes, Diogo felt a little bit and now we find out it's a little bit more, so he will be out for around two weeks. I can't really say a lot about it, to be honest," Klopp explained.

He added that Jota had received a knock on his hip, and although he managed to start the last game, the injury ultimately worsened, making him unavailable for the upcoming matches.

Jota's absence is a major a concern for Liverpool as they continue their Premier League title challenge against Manchester City and Arsenal.

With 10 league goals this season, his contribution has been vital, but Klopp is optimistic that Jota will be back before the end of the season.

Klopp was also asked about his thoughts on his final Merseyside derby, as he is set to leave Anfield this summer.

Nine of the last 12 games between Liverpool and Everton at Goodison Park have ended in draws, but Klopp emphasised that historical results won't matter on Wednesday.

"Super important for us, obviously, that is clear," said Klopp. "Our point of view is to win the next three games. It's really important, like all the other games, but we know about the importance, definitely."

Despite Jota's absence, Liverpool will have to stay focused as they face they look to continue their title fight without further hiccups.
