Liverpool want to bring in Premier League-proven players to bolster Arne Slot’s title-winning squad this summer. However, they are available for a premium fee, and several other top-flight clubs are interested in getting their hands on such players.
Slot wants to revamp the squad over the summer transfer window as he is aware that he needs better options next season to compete on multiple fronts.
The Liverpool manager wants to bring in players who are ready to get into the starting eleven immediately to elevate the overall level of the squad in the summer.
Signing a centre-back is one of the priorities as Slot wants better quality to properly rotate, and there are concerns about the future of Ibrahima Konate at Anfield.

Newcastle United threaten the Reds’ pursuit of a Premier League centre-back

Eddie Howe will have major funds to spend this summer, with Newcastle United looking likely to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
He wants to sign a centre-back, and according to experienced football scout Mick Brown, the Newcastle boss will rekindle his interest in Marc Guehi, who is also a Liverpool target.
The Merseyside giants are seriously considering getting their hands on a defender who has a year left in his contract at Crystal Palace.
However, Newcastle will again try to sign him this year after Palace knocked back as many as four offers from the Magpies last summer.
“Newcastle are still interested in Marc Guehi”, Brown told Football Insider.
“They want to sign a centre-back and he is the outstanding candidate for them.
“Everybody knows how keen on him they were last year, and he’s done nothing in the time since to put off potential suitors.
“He’s been brilliant for Crystal Palace and for England, and if anything his stock has gone up.
“Plus, he’s done himself a lot of favours by keeping his head down and getting on with the job, he’s never been distracted by all of the talk about his future.
“He’s not going to cost the £70m Palace turned down last year because of his contract situation.
“So for Newcastle, that will be a boost to their chances to get it done on a cheaper deal.
“That doesn’t mean he’ll be cheap by any means, but it won’t be that same £70m fee.”
