Newcastle United on the cusp of surprise deal for Liverpool hero

Liverpool have big plans for the summer transfer window as Arne Slot pushes to bring in several new signings. However, the club will have to offset them through player sales, and one of their stars is attracting the interest of Newcastle United ahead of the summer.

Slot is particularly interested in reshaping his attack, but then Liverpool are looking to strengthen several areas of their squad ahead of the next window.

Liverpool want to sign a left-back, a goalkeeper, a defensive midfielder and an attacking midfielder beyond the wide forwards they have their eyes on.

The Reds are also interested in bringing in a centre-back despite Virgil van Dijk’s new contract, and it could lead to the exit of a centre-back, who is now on the radar of Newcastle.

Can you name the team Liverpool sold these players to?

Newcastle United chase Reds defender

Bournemouth’s Dean Huijsen has emerged as a top target for Liverpool, and the club are keen to get their hands on the £50m centre-back in the summer.

However, his arrival will end up pushing Jarell Quansah further down the pecking order, and Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool are considering selling him.

He revealed that Newcastle are interested in the Red and are prepared to make a move to take him to St. James’ Park in the upcoming transfer window.

However, the Italian journalist stressed that a move could depend on whether the centre-back wants to leave Anfield.

“I’ll keep an eye on Jarell Quansah because he is very good and very talented”, Romano said on his Here We Go podcast.

“But, I think, sometimes you want to play.

“So you have Virgil van Dijk and the [new] contract. Ibrahima Konate is still there. There is interest in Dean Huijsen. Liverpool have many players in that position.

“Jarell Quansah is attracting interest from several clubs”, Romano added.

“Newcastle, from what I’m hearing, but also German clubs. That is the information I can tell you. [Alongside The Magpies] I’m told there is also interest from the Bundesliga.

“I think there will be movement for Quansah. I think he is one of the players that Liverpool will consider cashing in [on] if the player wants to go and try something new.”
