Much-loved Liverpool star Nathaniel Philipps will not be joining Napoli even on loan as confirmed by his agent, Colin Murdock, to Area Napoli.
Napoli have signed Axel Tuanzebe on loan from Manchester United until June and will pay a€500k loan fee.
A move that blocks any opportunity for Phillips to join the Serie A outfit, as per the player’s agent himself.
He said: “Napoli have taken Axel Tuanzebe, our former client, on loan, so I think they have finished their operations as regards the role of central defender.
“Therefore, I don’t think we need further comments on Nathaniel Phillips.”
The centre-back is at the bottom of the Liverpool pecking order and will need to find a new club in order to get regular playing time.
It’s unfortunate as he’s a talented player but he’s just not at the level required to be in the same starting XI as the likes of Virgil van Dijk.
He became a Liverpool cult hero last season as he and Rhys Williams played out of their skin to help the Reds qualify for the 2021/22 Champions League in unlikely fashion.
The Reds had to navigate one of the worst injury crises the Premier League has ever seen and somehow finished third.
Phillips has been linked with a move to West Ham although there hasn’t been any new links over the last few days.
Fabrizio Romano, however, did say that it was a move that would only materialise at the end of the month if at all.
