Monumental Virgil van Dijk contract update

The Virgil van Dijk contract situation has been a cause for worry at Liverpool this season as the club are certain about not wanting to lose the Dutchman’s influence on the team and the dressing room.

The Dutchman is one of the three significant Liverpool players who will be out of contract at the end of the season and the club are yet to reach an agreement over new deals with any of the stars.

While the negotiations with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold have been trickier, Liverpool have been making progress in talks over a new deal with the defender’s representatives.

There have been suggestions that the two sides are very close to reaching an agreement over the length of the contract and the wages he would command going forward.

Van Dijk has been massively influential in Arne Slot making a good start to life as Liverpool manager this season and the Dutchman has been pushing the club to make sure that his compatriot sticks around for a few more years at Anfield.

The Virgil van Dijk contract situation: It’s close

Liverpool have been negotiating with the defender’s representatives for months and it seems an agreement is now closer than ever.

The defender is happy and feels settled at Liverpool and has not shown any inclination towards leaving the Merseyside giants.

According to indykaila News, the defender has consented to a new deal with the Reds.

It has been claimed that an agreement is now in place for the defender to sign a new contract with Liverpool.

The two sides are now finalising the details of the deal before Van Dijk can sign on the dotted lines with the club.

Liverpool would be keen to finalise everything soon and confirm that the Dutchman will be extending his stay at the club.

The Reds hope that Van Dijk agreeing to sign the new contract will push Salah and Alexander-Arnold to agree on new contracts, respectively.

The Dutch defender has been a monumental player for Liverpool since joining the club in January 2018 and is now likely to spend his twilight years at Anfield.
