It was reported by Jornal de Noticias that the Reds want to lure the midfielder, who is valued at €59M.
A recent report from Correio da Manha states that Nunes will wait for Liverpool to play in the Champions League and compete for silverware.
This followed a report from A Bola that claimed he had rejected an €11M contract from Wolves.
It’s reported that if Matheus Nunes is sold, Sporting have lined up Estoril’s Andre Franco as a replacement – according to O Jogo. The 24-year-old has already joined the club and so a move to Liverpool for Nunes won’t cripple Sporting.
Liverpool have targeted Jude Bellingham long-term but fans are already worried about this season following the injuries already sustained – Nunes could be the perfect solution for the Reds in the present and long-term.
