Report: Klopp could make "five changes" to Carabao Cup final starting XI to face Chelsea

Jurgen Klopp is reportedly set to welcome Ibrahima Konate back into his side after the Frenchman sat on the bench for the 4-1 win over Luton Town this week.

On Wednesday, the Reds fielded a much weakened team due to injury and with the Carabao Cup final set to take place on Sunday, the pressure is on.

Chelsea are their opponents and the Blues will be hoping to come up against as weak a Liverpool team as possible.

Konate was rested against Luton midweek but the Liverpool Echo now reports that Jarell Quansah will drop out the starting lineup to allow Konate to reclaim his spot.

Which five changes could Klopp make to the side that beat Luton 4-1 on Wednesday?

Virgil van Dijk and Konate alongside each other at the heart of central defence gives Liverpool their best chance of producing a dominant defensive display at Wembley on Sunday.

In fact, Klopp could make up to five changes with Andy Robertson likely to start as well. It will come down to whether or not Joe Gomez is fresh enough for a cup final that could go to extra time based on recent finals against Chelsea.

The Echo states that while Konate and Robertson should return to the starting lineup to face Chelsea on Sunday, it's not certain who the other three potential changes will be.

Klopp needs to choose between Ryan Gravenberch and Harvey Elliott. The latter was excellent against Luton but ran himself into the ground and may not be fresh enough for a cup final.

Then, there is the wait to see if Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah will be ready to take part after they joined the injury list this week. The Daily Mail's Dominic King believes Salah will be ready in time to start but has his doubts over Nunez.

Teenagers Bobby Clark, James McConnell and Jayden Danns were brought off the bench against Luton and could be a part of the squad to face Chelsea this weekend.

Despite the injury concerns, the Merseysiders continue to churn out results with a regularity that must irk their rivals. Aside from the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal, Liverpool have won 12 and drawn two in their last fifteen games in all competitions.

The 4-1 win over Luton means Liverpool are also now the first team to reach 100 goals in all competitions across Europe's top five leagues.

Klopp may be leaving and he may be contending with a huge injury crisis but he is still producing miracles at Anfield.
