Heartbroken Marcelo Saracchi has publicly confirmed he will not be returning to Celtic this summer after talks over a second spell collapsed.
The Uruguayan left-back spent last season on loan at Parkhead from Boca Juniors, providing valuable backup to Kieran Tierney throughout the campaign.
Celtic had explored the possibility of bringing Saracchi back, but those efforts ultimately came to nothing, leaving the player visibly upset.
Taking to social media to address Celtic supporters directly, Saracchi said: “Dear Celtic fans. I’m writing this to say goodbye. We had an intense, beautiful year together where we achieved so many of our goals.”
He continued: “My agent and I did absolutely everything within our power to make a return to Glasgow happen. I’m truly gutted that I won’t be able to continue at the club at this stage of my career.”
Saracchi closed his message on a warm note, adding: “However, I know our paths will cross again in the future. I wish you all nothing but the best for what’s ahead. Thank you for everything.”
The failed Saracchi deal is the latest in a string of transfer disappointments that are threatening to define Celtic’s summer window.
Kelechi Iheanacho also snubbed the club, choosing Bursaspor over a return to Parkhead in a move that further frustrated supporters and club officials alike.
Celtic have also announced that Maik Nawrocki has departed the club, adding further concern over a squad that is becoming increasingly stretched across multiple positions.
Question marks continue to hang over the futures of key players, including captain Callum McGregor and influential midfielder Arne Engels, deepening the sense of uncertainty at the club.
So far, Celtic have added only one new signing in Camilo Duran while retaining Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, leaving fans increasingly restless as the window stalls.
The pattern of deals falling through and key players leaving is creating growing unrest among the support, with the club’s preparations for the coming season looking worryingly thin.
