Manchester United set to profit from the Mo Salah new deal at Liverpool

Mo Salah is set to sign a new two-year contract with Liverpool after months of negotiations, and will stay at Anfield until at least 2027. However, Liverpool’s success is convincing the winger to agree to a new contract is set to have a major consequence on Manchester United’s transfer plans.

Liverpool fans will breathe a sigh of relief after it emerged on Wednesday that Mo Salah is set to sign a new deal with Liverpool to commit his future to the club.

With Trent Alexander-Arnold set to leave on a free transfer, it was paramount for Liverpool to hold on to Salah and Virgil van Dijk, and the duo will soon sign new contracts with the club.

However, Salah’s upcoming new contract will benefit Manchester United as Liverpool are no longer expected to pursue a deal for a top Red Devils target.

Until recently, Xavi Simon was a top target for Liverpool, and the Reds were considering making a big-money move for the forward in the summer transfer window.

However, with Salah staying, Liverpool are no longer prioritising a move for the RB Leipzig star, and will look at strengthening other areas of the team.

According to CaughtOffside, Manchester United will benefit from Liverpool getting out of the race to sign the attacker in the next transfer window.

Ruben Amorim has identified the Leipzig star as one of the top targets to play in one of the two number 10 positions in his Manchester United team next season.

With Liverpool now looking at other profiles, Manchester United have a clear run at Simons as long as they are prepared to pay a £70m fee.

The Reds are believed to be considering making offers for players such as Eberechi Eze and Antoine Semenyo in the summer.
