Liverpool are not shying away from getting into the mix for a superstar player this summer. FSG are prepared to make a big splash, and the Reds have stolen a march on Manchester City in pursuit of a blockbuster deal in the upcoming transfer window.
Arne Slot wants to add some stardust to his squad, especially in the forward line, to end his team’s overreliance on Mo Salah for goals and creativity.
The Liverpool manager wants to compete on multiple fronts next season after winning the Premier League this year, and the club are showing real ambition in the market.
Sporting director Richard Hughes is working on a deal that would leave Manchester City breathless and completely shock the rest of Europe in the summer window.

Manchester City are now behind the Reds in the race for a top player

Hughes has already held talks with Florian Wirtz and his camp, and is scheduled for more conversations with the Bayer Leverkusen star this summer.
Manchester City have also made an offer, but according to German journalist Christian Falk, the Merseyside giants have the edge over the Citizens at this stage.
However, he claimed that Bayern Munich, who have a contractual agreement with him, remain confident of signing the player this summer or next season.
“We have already reported that Manchester City have made an offer for the German”, Falk told CaughtOffSide.
“Apparently, however, there has also been a meeting with Liverpool FC. As things stand, Liverpool are further ahead than Man City in the poker.
“But, the truth is: FC Bayern are still optimistic that they will get their dream player. Either this summer or in 2026, as his contract runs until 2027.”
There are suggestions Liverpool hold a financial edge over the Bavarians as the latter need to sell players to afford Wirtz’s £120m price tag.
