However, the result yesterday was the main thing but there was some stand out performers but who were they?
Nat Philips
The 23-year defender played his best game for the club in yesterday’s win at West Ham. Many fans feared the worse with Matip picking up the injury vs Spurs, leaving a partnership of Henderson and Philips.

However, Philips rose to the occasion and proved to be Liverpool’s best defender on the pitch. He managed the aerial threat from set-pieces well especially as West Ham have scored the most goals from set-pieces in the league. He also managed to keep a dangerous Michael Antonio very quiet.
Thiago Alcantara
The Spaniard had one of his best games in a Liverpool shirt yesterday. Whilst playing on the right of a diamond Thiago was still able to influence the game in his usual manner.

He still managed to complete 89.4% of his passes which included his unbelievable pass to Origi but the Belgian could not finish off the move. He also showed his defensive side by winning seven out of his nine ground battles, showing that he is willing to win the ball back for his team.
Mohamed Salah
The Egyptian showed yesterday why is he arguably the best player in the Premier League. His two goals yesterday takes is total to 15 goals in the league and three clear of nearest rival Harry Kane who is out injured.

But it was the way he took his two goals yesterday that just highlighted how important he is to the team. We all know how good Salah is but the goal drought at the end of December and beginning of January had everyone guessing the front three as a whole.
His second goal was a flashback to his debut season at the club, blistering pace on the counter-attack and wonderful first touch before a calm finish.
