Liverpool’s £14M summer midfield target has spoken out about his rumoured move to Anfield that was reported this summer.
His move was rumoured at a time when Liverpool were scrambling to sign a midfielder following their failed pursuit of Monaco’s Aurélien Tchouaméni.
The former Premier League midfielder is only 24 but has built up experience in Belgian and English football as well as being capped 30 times for Norway.
Now he’s finally responded to the ‘concrete’ rumours that emerged over the summer.

Berge on Liverpool links
Speaking to the media whilst on international duty, Berge spoke about the reported interest which he described as ‘concrete’.
He replied (via Sport Witness): “There was a lot of interest, concrete interest. You weighed things up a bit, it had to work out for both the club and me, and it didn’t happen.
“It’s always nice to sit in a position and know that there were clubs that were very interested.”

When asked about Liverpool, the player added: “There is nothing negative about clubs of that size being mentioned, but you shouldn’t put too much into it.
“It can be flared up by very little, and it is not necessarily always right, even if there were big and interesting clubs that were in the picture. Not everything on the internet is true.”
Reports do point towards Berge being under consideration at one point and he could even become a potential target next summer with James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain all out of contract next summer.
