Liverpool’s key £13M midfielder is unlikely to play for his country over the international break despite being called up.
Captain Jordan Henderson has been selected for the two upcoming UEFA Nations League games for England against Italy and Germany.
This is despite his injury lay-off which began after Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Newcastle at the end of August.
However, reports claim that he won’t be playing against Italy tonight and is unlikely to feature against Germany – a piece of news that is certainly a bonus for Liverpool fans.

Why has Henderson been called up if he’s still recovering?
His call-up seemed to worry some Liverpool fans who believed that the 32-year-old could see some game time which could risk him developing another injury.
Given that he isn’t going to be playing against Italy, it’s safe to say he won’t be in action against Germany, and if he does, it’ll certainly be a very limited number of minutes.
Henderson joins Ivan Toney, Marc Guéhi, Ben Chilwell and John Stones as the players who have been left out of the 23-man squad.
It was seen that Henderson was joined by Liverpool target Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice in not joining in the open training session on Tuesday as the trio are ‘managing their workload‘.

James Pearce of the Athletic spoke on Henderson’s inclusion claiming that he’s only been allowed to go with Klopp’s blessing as it is the final camp before the World Cup and Henderson is a key, senior figure in that dressing room.
“I don’t think Jordan Henderson would be going to England if Jurgen Klopp was not on board with it.” Claimed Pearce on his Red Agenda podcast.
“If it was two pointless friendlies, I think common sense would say he needs the extra time at Kirkby. But this is the last England camp before the World Cup, and we know how important that is to Jordan Henderson. Jurgen Klopp would be fully appreciative of that.”
Either way, it’s good news for Liverpool fans as Henderson will receive a boost in fitness this week as he continues to train and build up his match fitness. This should see him return fit and motivated and ready to be a key part of Liverpool’s midfield following an indifferent spell for the Reds at the start of the new season.
