Liverpool want to push forward to sign Aurelien Tchouameni despite claims the French star has chosen to join Real Madrid this summer.
The two clubs are set to battle it out for the Champions League trophy on Sunday and the subplot is their behind-closed-doors race to sign the French midfielder.
The shock announcement that Kylian Mbappe has agreed to stay at PSG for another three years makes things difficult for the Reds. It means Real Madrid are desperate to make sure they aren’t embarrassed in the transfer market again.
The result is that Liverpool are going to have to pull out all the stops to land the 22-year-old.

Real Madrid do not yet have a “full agreement” to sign Aurelien Tchouameni and Liverpool “will accelerate” their attempts to convince the Frenchman to join Jurgen Klopp at Anfield next season, according to Santi Aouna.
He works for Foot Mercato and adds that PSG are not yet out of the race even if Madrid are in the lead and Liverpool are second-favourites to sign him.
AS Monaco and the player both “seem to be in a hurry” to end the saga although it has just started. Liverpool would likely also like to put an end to speculation by signing the player but its unlikely to be that simple.
The Ligue 1 outfit wants €80million to let Tchouameni go and it will be fascinating to see how highly Liverpool really value him.
