Liverpool want £126M superstar but can only sign him with an “astronomical offer”

Mohamed Salah has been a cornerstone of Liverpool’s success since his arrival from AS Roma in 2017.

He has continued his stellar form into this season, netting three goals and providing three assists in his first three Premier League appearances.

Despite his contributions, the 32-year-old is in the final year of his contract, leaving his future at Anfield in some uncertainty.

As Liverpool consider their options, a long-term replacement for the veteran forward is a growing possibility.

Earlier this year, Liverpool reportedly targeted Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, submitting an official bid of around £101 million (€120 million) for the Brazilian.

However, Real Madrid rejected the offer, holding out for a fee closer to Rodrygo’s £126 million (€150 million) release clause. This stance highlights the significant investment required to secure the 23-year-old’s services.

According to Spanish outlet TDF, Liverpool’s interest in Rodrygo remains strong despite their failed summer bid.

The Reds are still keen on bringing the versatile forward to Merseyside, viewing him as a potential successor to Salah. Real Madrid are open to selling Rodrygo but would only consider it if presented with an “astronomical offer.”

Rodrygo is currently happy at Real Madrid, where he has already won major titles which suggests he is not actively seeking a move.

Nevertheless, his versatility as a forward—capable of playing across the attack—makes him an appealing option for Liverpool. His skillset would provide a seamless transition should Salah decide to move on.

The Brazilian international’s potential move to Liverpool remains speculative at this stage.

However, should the Reds decide to pursue Rodrygo again, they will need to meet Real Madrid’s hefty asking price.

As Liverpool plan for the future, Rodrygo represents a promising long-term investment, aligning with their need for a dynamic forward who can fill the sizeable hole hypothetically left by Salah.
