Liverpool’s strong connections could see them complete a brilliant double swoop for two top midfield talents next summer.
The Reds are likely to move for a midfielder next summer, with Jude Bellingham touted as their main target and with players out of contract it’s likely we will see some fresh faces in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield.
Reports from Portugal claim they’ve already lined up some potential recruits and their strong connections with agents and clubs could see them in the driving seat to secure those deals.
Considering the quality of the names being mentioned, it’s certainly an exciting prospect.
Matheus Nunes of Wolves and Enzo Fernandez of Benfica are both young and highly talented players with serious qualities that will definitely revitalise and refresh their midfield.
Come the start of next season, Liverpool’s midfield options could look very different and it could be just what they need.

Liverpool’s potential double signing of midfield maestros
The latest reports from the most reliable outlet in Brazil Uol claims that Liverpool are eyeing up the double signing of Nunes & Fernandez next summer. They cite Liverpool’s relationship with Jorge Mendes as a key factor in getting those deals done.
Nunes is represented directly by Mendes whilst Fernandez’s agent is Eugenio Lopez, who works in partnership with Mendes. For Nunes, he’s seen as one of the ‘top names’ on Klopp’s list.
But they are waiting to see how he adapts to life in the Premier League with Wolves before any deal will be explored.
Considering Liverpool’s sporting director Julian Ward has a good relationship with Mendes from the Darwin Nunez transfer, it could be an easy deal to negotiate, despite the fact that Nunes only joined Wolves this summer.

In terms of Fernandez, he’s been Benfica’s key man so far this season and he’s just been called up to the Argentina national squad for the upcoming international break. The 21-year-old only signed from River Plate in the summer but has made a bright start to his European career.
This season in the league for Benfica, he’s averaged a pass success rate of 89.2%, 2.3 shots per game, 2.5 tackles, 1.2 key passes, 9.8 long balls per 90 and 102 passes per game – he’s all action and loves receiving the ball.
Check out his performance against Juventus in the Champions League this week – he looks a special talent no doubt.
They list him down as having a release clause of €120M – which Liverpool will obviously not pay – but their strong relationship with Mendes means a deal is on the table.
Why signing two midfielders is feasible
If you consider the competition for Jude Bellingham next summer – with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid interested in his services – it may be smart to have a ‘Plan B’ option in case they miss out on their star target.
This becomes more evident when you consider that they missed out on Aurelien Tchouameni this summer to Real Madrid with the Frenchman seen as their star target.
After missing out on him, they failed to sign another midfielder until deadline day when Arthur Melo was secured on a loan deal.
He has been considered a ‘panic buy‘ by some and the Reds will not want a repeat of that considering next summer will most likely see a midfield transition with James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita all out of contract.
Furthermore, Thiago will be 32 next summer and his injury record suggests he can’t be relied on week in, week out. Plus Fabinho is the only natural senior defensive midfielder at the club and Klopp will certainly need options.
