Explained: What Liverpool Plan to Do Next After Milos Kerkez Signing

With Milos Kerkez expected to arrive at Anfield, the summer rebuild under Arne Slot at Liverpool is at full swing. But what comes next? From attacking reinforcements to defensive upgrades and potential outgoings, here’s how Liverpool’s post-Kerkez strategy is expected to unfold.

Liverpool have not stood still since winning the Premier League last season, and are about to secure the third signing of the summer in Milos Kerkez.

The Hungarian’s arrival is expected to be confirmed soon, to add to the signings of Jeremie Frimpong for £30m and Florian Wirtz for a British record transfer fee of £116m.

However, the Merseyside giants have a few other priorities to sort out, and the club are still in need of a centre-back or two, and a striker before the transfer window closes.

What after Milos Kerkez at Liverpool? Marc Guehi and Alexander Isak? But sales first

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes and his recruitment team have done a remarkable job in bringing in three new players for the first team before 30th June.

However, Liverpool are now set to take a pause and look at how the market develops in the next few weeks before deciding the next course of action.

Marc Guehi seems like an attainable target, a deal worth £40m because of his contract situation at Crystal Palace, but it will take some negotiating.

The imminent sale of Jarell Quansah will free up spaces and funds to bring in a centre-back soon.

Liverpool still need a striker, and they admire Alexander Isak. However, any move to sign a new number 9 will have to wait until Darwin Nunez leaves.

The champions still need to finalise the sale of Federico Chiesa before signing a winger or wide forward in the ongoing transfer.

The club also face a tough decision on whether to sell Andy Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas in the coming weeks.
