A seemingly done Liverpool transfer is now in doubt as both Real Madrid and Tottenham are likely to join the chase for the player. The Reds were expecting this player to join them in January after the initial negotiations fell through this summer.
Liverpool had a big summer window. The likes of Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike were marquee signings for the club. Spending over £416m overall, they were expecting to close one more deal before the window closed.
That transfer however didn’t go through and now they find themselves at the prospect of losing out on that coveted player.

Liverpool transfer to be hijacked by rivals

Marc Guéhi has been on the Liverpool radar for a long time. Despite saying his goodbyes to his fellow players and the clubs agreeing to a £35m deal, the transfer didn’t happen.
Crystal Palace were unable to find a replacement for their club captain and Olive Glasner had to cancel his exit. Since September 1 multiple reports swirled around with Palace chairman Steve Parish confirming he wanted to sell the England star.
Guéhi will now be reportedly offered for £25m in January with Madrid and Spurs joining in to secure his services. Reports from the Daily Express have claimed, Chelsea won’t be attempting to bring back the defender to Stamford Bridge.
But with two other clubs joining the fray at, it will not be an easy road to Anfield for the 25-year old.
Other exits may force Slot’s hand
With Ibrahim Konate having one foot out of the door, bringing in Guéhi will be of prime importance to manager Arne Slot’s plans. The new signings have so far failed to shine with the Dutch manager succumbing to three defeats on the trot.
There are also reports of a possible exit for Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian is currently under a contract till 2027, but with age no longer on his side, Liverpool would prefer to cash in on the player.
