Liverpool to seal stunning, record-breaking signing by weekend

Liverpool players and fans were celebrating wildly on Sunday as the club lifted a record-equalling 20th top-flight title, and more joy is soon on the cards. The Merseyside giants are closing in on clinching the most monumental deal in the club’s history.

Arne Slot has won the league in his first season on Merseyside, but he is not prepared to rest on his laurels, and the club are moving in the market to ensure that this success can be sustained.

Liverpool have shown real ambition in the market, and the club could bring in as many as three new players even before the ink is dry on the 20224/25 season.

Jeremie Frimpong is just an announcement away from being a Liverpool player, but it appears the club want their first signing of the summer to be as big as they can make it.

The Reds want the medical and signing sorted out by next weekend

Bayern Munich and Manchester City were the early favourites to sign him, but Liverpool have come out of nowhere to beat the two to his signing.

The Reds are now in conversations with Bayer Leverkusen to finalise a deal for his signing after getting an agreement sorted out with the player.

Wirtz has told Leverkusen that he only wants to join Liverpool, and the Reds have tabled a bid worth £84m as their first offer.

The negotiations are ongoing, and according to TBR Football, Liverpool have already booked him for a medical and want the deal sorted out by next weekend.

Wirtz is days away from arriving in England to finalise the formalities of the transfer, which would shatter Liverpool transfer records.

Leverkusen want at least £100m from his departure, and Liverpool have assured them that the final deal will reach that figure.
