If Liverpool end up signing him, then that’s where the saga ends, but if Chelsea sign the Spaniard, a defender would likely move on from Stamford Bridge.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Levi Colwill will drop down the pecking order at Chelsea if Huijsen moves to Stamford Bridge in the summer.

The 22-year-old would likely want to move on for regular football, and Liverpool have been long-term admirers of him since he was at Brighton.

He would likely emerge as a Premier League-proven option for the Reds if they fail to sign Huijsen in the upcoming window.

At 22, he is at the right age profile for Liverpool and remains a solid young centre-back who could grow and develop while playing alongside Van Dijk.
