He’s played his last game for Liverpool – £160,000/month star told to find new club

Adrian

Liverpool have told Adrian to find a new club this summer as his two-year deal with the Anfield side comes to an end this season.

The Spanish goalkeeper started his career on Merseyside superbly, becoming a hero in a UEFA Super Cup penalty shoot-out with Chelsea but his knack for making huge errors is unacceptable for a club with Liverpool’s ambitions.

His performance against Aston Villa, where he conceded seven goals was damning and it wasn’t purely a case of not receiving enough protection from his back four.

On the day, Adrian faced 11 shots on target and saved just four, conceding 7 – a shot to save ratio of just 36.3%.

Alisson Becker suffered quite a lot of injuries for a goalkeeper and supporters have become terrified of seeing Adrian’s name on the teamsheet due to his unpredictable nature.

For example, the goalie was quite solid against Sheffield United when he kept a clean sheet as Liverpool gave Alisson leave to mourn the tragic passing of his father. Adrian stepped in and performed quite well but you always get the sense that a clanger is around the corner.

The Spaniard signed a two-year, £160,000/month deal in 2019 but Liverpool are ready to sign a new no.2 after becoming unable to trust Adrian in net.

Signing a backup goalkeeper won’t be too challenging for Liverpool and there’s even the possibility that Marcelo Pitaluga gets promoted to the first team but that would mean, with Caoimhín Kelleher the other backup ‘keeper, there wouldn’t be much experience in reserve for Jurgen Klopp.
