Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott has been dealt a significant injury blow after it was revealed that the 21-year-old has broken his foot, leaving him sidelined for an extended period. The injury occurred during an England Under-21s training session last week, where Elliott reported discomfort before withdrawing from the squad. The full extent of the injury, a foot fracture, has now been confirmed.
According to The Times, Elliott is expected to be out of action until late October. This news comes as a frustrating setback for Liverpool manager Arne Slot, as the team faces a busy and challenging schedule in the coming weeks.
Despite making only a brief appearance this season, with seven minutes off the bench in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Brentford in August, Elliott was likely to be a key rotational player during a packed run of fixtures.
The Reds will play 10 games between now and October 27th, when they are set to face Arsenal, meaning his absence will be felt as the team juggles domestic and European commitments.

Liverpool will return to action following the international break on Saturday, hosting Nottingham Forest at Anfield. The Reds have enjoyed a strong start to the season, winning their first three Premier League games, but with a congested schedule ahead, the loss of Elliott is a blow.
Between now and October 5th, Liverpool will be playing two games a week. After facing Nottingham Forest, they’ll take on AC Milan in the Champions League, followed by Bournemouth in the Premier League. The team will then host West Ham United in the Carabao Cup before travelling to face Wolves in the league.
The following week sees matches against Bologna in the Champions League and Crystal Palace in their last Premier League fixture before the next international break.
With fixtures coming thick and fast, Elliott’s injury leaves Liverpool thinner in midfield depth, adding pressure on the squad as they navigate this demanding stretch of the season.
