Liverpool stunned as Chelsea swoop in for £90m England star

Liverpool have made a few bold moves in the market ahead of the transfer window, and are set to spend big money this summer. However, Chelsea are plotting to steal a top young Premier League star who has been on Anfield’s radar this season.

Sporting director Richard Hughes has been working hard for months to set up summer deals, and his efforts are set to pay off over the next few weeks.

Liverpool hope to finalise Florian Wirtz’s arrival on a record-breaking deal from Bayer Leverkusen by next weekend, and will announce the signing of Jeremie Frimpong when the window opens on Sunday.

The Reds have also made progress in talks for Milos Kerkez, but Chelsea seem to have taken the lead in the race to sign a Premier League midfielder the Reds have been keen to sign.

Chelsea are confident of signing a Premier League star wanted at Anfield

Morgan Rogers’ future at Aston Villa has come under scrutiny after Unai Emery’s side failed to qualify for next season’s Champions League on the final day of the league season.

Villa are under pressure to sell players now to balance their books, and Rogers is one of the stars who could fetch big money for them this summer.

Liverpool have been keeping tabs on him, but with Wirtz expected to arrive, the Reds are unlikely to invest big funds into signing another attacking midfielder.

According to GiveMeSport, Chelsea are now the frontrunners to sign Rogers, if he leaves Villa Park in the upcoming transfer window.

Chelsea believe Villa’s failure to qualify for the Champions League gives them a decent chance of signing the England star ahead of next season.

However, it would take a considerable fee to convince Villa to sell him, and he is said to have a price tag of £90m.
