Liverpool stun rivals by landing top striker on a shock free transfer

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has his task cut out as the Reds need a top goalscorer to take Arne Slot’s squad to the next level in the coming years. The Reds are keeping tabs on several forwards, but one could be signed on a shock free transfer this summer.

Hughes probably has the toughest job this summer – to find a striker who can become the reliable goalscorer that Arne Slot can trust to deliver the goods next season.

Darwin Nunez has been a failed experiment at Anfield and is expected to be sold in the summer transfer window to make way for a new striker signing.

Alexander Isak is the top target for the Reds, and they also have their eyes on Hugo Ekitike. However, Liverpool could end up signing one on a free transfer in one of the smartest pieces of business.

Liverpool eye deal for free transfer striker

Jonathan David has scored 25 goals and registered 12 assists in all competitions for Lille, who are sitting fifth in the Ligue 1 table.

He will be out of contract in the summer, and some of the biggest clubs in Europe are interested in snapping up the Canadian forward in the upcoming transfer window.

Liverpool have been interested in signing him, and it has been claimed that they have two fewer clubs to worry about in the race to sign the attacker.

According to InterLive, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are no longer trying to sign the striker in the summer transfer window.

A few more clubs have their eyes on David, but Liverpool have a clear edge in the race to sign the attacker on a free transfer in the coming months.

The Canadian would prefer a move to Anfield, and Liverpool feel this is a great chance to sign a reliable goalscorer without spending a fortune in transfer fees.
