Liverpool stun Europe with shock transfer coup for £74m defender

Liverpool are on their way to having the most expensive summer transfer window in the club’s history, but they still have a few more priorities to sort out. The Reds  are still in the market for a centre-back and are now pondering making an offer for a highly rated young defender in the Bundesliga.

The Merseyside giants are closing in on a deal to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, and Jeremie Frimpong has already arrived on Merseyside to complete his transfer.

However, Liverpool’s pursuit of a centre-back has not gone according to plan. Dean Huijsen snubbed the Reds in favour of a move to Real Madrid, and they are assessing several other options.

Liverpool have been considering a few centre-backs, and it has been claimed that they have made their first move to sign a top young defender from the Bundesliga.

The Reds put in an enquiry for a highly rated centre-back in Germany

Castello Lukeba has been on the wishlist of several clubs due to his performances at RB Leipzig, and has been tipped to leave the club this summer.

Liverpool have been monitoring his progress for months and are now considering making a move to take him to Anfield in the upcoming transfer window.

According to TEAMTalk, the Reds have put in an enquiry to get more information on his situation at Leipzig and a potential transfer.

They want to know whether the Frenchman would be keen on moving to Anfield this summer and the potential costs of doing a deal.

Leipzig have slapped a £74m price tag on him, but their failure to qualify for the Champions League means they will have to take a hit on that price.

The German club are expected to sell for less, and Liverpool are considering whether to make a play for Lukeba this summer.
