xG stat shows Liverpool will be flying once they return to form – positive signs for Klopp

Liverpool stats Mohamed Salah

Liverpool may have started the season in shaky form but the statistics show that they will be flying once they re-discover their form.

The Reds suffered a loss to Manchester United earlier this week which has been coupled with two draws against Fulham and Crystal Palace.

Next up is a much-needed home game against Bournemouth and Jurgen Klopp will be expecting nothing less than three points.

Despite the general feeling around the club being negative at the current time due to injuries and form, the stats show that Liverpool will be flying in no time once they re-discover their form.

Liverpool stats show encouraging creativity

Despite the internet trying to push the Klopp ‘7th season’ agenda – where in which he’s been sacked or left his roles at Mainz and Borussia Dortmund in the seventh season – the team is in the top bracket of teams in the league for creativity.

Defensively is where the problems have occurred, but going the other way, the Reds are still creating chances and getting into good positions – despite a make-shift midfield and injuries at both ends of the pitch.

Currently, Liverpool have posted an xG of 5.1 non-pen xG so far in 3 games. Man City are top with 5.8 whilst Arsenal are second with 5.4.

Liverpool are third behind those two.

Mohamed Salah on his own has 0.9 of that – which shows he’s started the season sharply, having produced three goal contributions so far.

Bournemouth just shipped four goals away at Manchester City and are likely to surrender the ball to Liverpool for large parts this weekend.

It may be just the game Mo Salah needs to fire his side back into form.

After all, Salah enjoys playing and scoring against the Cherries – bagging eight goals and an assist in only six games. Including a hattrick away on the South Coast.

Furthermore, history tells us that the Reds should be victorious as Bournemouth have lost seven of their last eight matches at Anfield. The exception was a 2-2 draw in 2017.

A win here can set Liverpool up confidence-wise and they will welcome back players slowly and surely from injury and suspensions but nothing less than a win is expected on Saturday.
