Liverpool set to snub offering a new contract to star man

Journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed that Liverpool will not be offering a new contract to Diaz, whose dream of a move to Barcelona died recently.

He insisted that the Reds have no plans to offer him fresh terms as a reward for his performances last season, and it seems inevitable that the winger will leave to move to Saudi Arabia this summer.

“Liverpool have backed away from contract talks with him. My belief in talking to people in Saudi I think Luis Diaz is going to Saudi Arabia this summer”, Bailey told TBR Football.

“I do. I think that’s going to happen. I don’t necessarily think purely because of Wirtz, but you know, Wirtz will end up playing there. They’ve got Gakpo as well. I think the fact that Liverpool have backed away from him and Diaz is not on a lot of money.

“We’re referring there to a contract where and and I’ll be honest, I think Diaz does deserve a new contract. He was phenomenal for them last season. He has been for 18 months before that when he was agitating for Barcelona.

“For Liverpool not to give him that contract this summer, I think that maybe tells us something. And yeah, I think Diaz will leave. Him and Nunez, I think Liverpool would like them both to go to Saudi, but I do think they both will leave.”
