Bid made: If Liverpool want to sign the “Turkish Messi” ahead of Arsenal, they will need to pay £25million

If Liverpool’s interest in Fenerbache wonderkid, Arda Guler, is genuine, they need to £25million to beat Arsenal to his signature.

Dubbed as the “Turkish Messi” and “Mesut Özil’s successor”, Arda Guler is a wonderful talent.

Arsenal have been linked with the starlet as Mikel Arteta aims to guide Arsenal back into the top four for the first time in 8 years.

Pre-season has begun for Liverpool with the start of the Premier League season exactly a month away.

While some of the Reds’ best players are still on holiday after playing a record number of games (63) in their attempt to win the quadruple last season, the work has begun for some of the players.

Jurgen Klopp has called up several young stars and while it’s no surprise to see Harvey Elliott shining in training drills, Liverpool could still sign another thrilling youth star.

He would follow 19-year-old Fabio Carvalho and 18-year-old Calvin Ramsay after Liverpool signed the two teenagers from Fulham and Aberdeen respectively.

A report from Spor in Turkey claims Liverpool are interested in signing Fenerbache’s Arda Guler this summer but face competition from Arsenal for his signature and have already made a bid.

Arda Guler

Dubbed as “Mesut Özil’s successor”, Guler is a 17-year-old under contract with the Turkish side until 2025 and will cost £25million this summer.

Liverpool, Arsenal and Lyon have reportedly made bids to sign Guler but it’s not specified how much each club has offered to Fenerbache.

Transfermarkt values the young starlet at £5.4million and given that Liverpool have just paid a combined £9.2m to sign former Fulham magician Fabio Carvalho and former Aberdeen rising star Calvin Ramsay, I believe paying £25million for an untested 17-year-old would be a misallocation of funds.

Liverpool need to reinforce their midfield before further investment into young talent should be considered.

Liverpool’s transfer priority should be the midfield starting with Jude Bellingham

There have been a multitude of reports linking Liverpool with Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool's transfer priority should be the midfield starting with Jude Bellingham

According to the Athletic, Liverpool won’t be put off by the €120million (£103million) transfer and see the 19-year-old as a key target.

Yet, it’s vital that Liverpool reinforce their midfield ranks this summer. Agreeing a Naby Keita-style deal to sign Jude Bellingham would be the perfect approach to this summer’s window.

Liverpool paid £52million to sign Naby Keita after an agreement was reached a year before his switch to Anfield in 2018, ensuring the Reds would beat the competition to his signature.

If they could also add the likes of Ibrahim Sangare to the side to future proof the ranks with James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain likely heading into the final year of their respective Liverpool contracts, that would be a cherry on the cake for Jurgen Klopp.

The Liverpool target is an Ivorian powerhouse that plays who plays for Eredivisie outfit PSV Eindhoven and is one of five realistic players that we at Anfield Central reckon would be a good fit for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

FSG and Klopp typically don’t sanction stop-gap signings but if it helps avoid having to sign another midfielder on top of Bellingham next summer, it would make a lot more sense.
