Liverpool are in the market for forwards this summer as Arne Slot wants to add young blood and more creativity to his team ahead of next season. However, it appears Arsenal are set to steal one of their long-term targets in the upcoming transfer window.
Sporting director Richard Hughes is set to deliver the first signing of the summer before the final game of the season, but Liverpool still have other priorities in the coming weeks.
Liverpool are in the strikers and wide forwards, and the club have been working on several deals before taking a call on who to move for in the upcoming transfer window.
However, the Reds must remain alert as Arsenal are set to steal a march on a target the Reds have been keen to sign since last summer, when they almost got the forward.

Arsenal are chasing Anthony Gordon, and the Reds should be all over him again

Anthony Gordon wanted to join Liverpool last summer, and the Reds had a deal in place with Newcastle United to sign him before the Magpies backed out.
His future is again under the scanner as Arsenal are interested in signing him as they want an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli on the left flank.
Former Premier League scout Mick Brown has confirmed their interest in the winger, and believes if they offer enough money, Newcastle could agree to sell him due to their PSR issues.
“We’ve spoken about Martinelli, and if he leaves, they want to bring somebody in who is better than him, and there are a few names on their radar”, Brown told Football Insider.
“One player they’ve shown interest in is Anthony Gordon.
“They’ve been looking at him, keeping an eye on his situation in case he becomes available.
“Newcastle have a bit of uncertainty about them because of their financial situation.
“If they can offer a lot of money for him, Newcastle might have to accept.
“Then, Arsenal have to decide whether the money it would take to bring him in is worth what he will bring to the team and whether he’s the right fit.
“But he’s still young and there’s a reason they’ve been looking at him for a while.”
If Gordon becomes available, Liverpool are almost certain to jump into the market for him this summer.
