Liverpool set to replace star man in the transfer market

Liverpool sit second in the Premier League table but the club have ambitious plans for the upcoming transfer windows and sporting director Richard Hughes will not shy away from shaking up the squad.

The Reds are looking to bring in a defensive midfielder in January, which was a priority last summer but the club decided against signing anyone after Martin Zubimendi rejected a move to Anfield.

Liverpool are also planning for next summer and could be looking to shape up the squad given the team’s performance and the potential departures of a few stars such as Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Merseyside giants have their eyes on Barcelona’s 17-year-old star Lamine Yamal but the club are already looking to move on a few players who might not be part of Arne Slot’s plans going forward.

Dominik Szoboszlai is one of the players who have struggled to adapt to Slot’s football and he started the big game against Arsenal on the bench this weekend.

Liverpool are eyeing replacements for Szoboszlai

Szoboszlai is still a key player in the squad and is likely to play a considerable number of games this season given Liverpool are light in midfield.

However, his long-term future at the club is under the scanner and according to Trend Spot, the club are looking to bring in a replacement for him.

It has been claimed that Liverpool are scouting players who could come in and replace the Hungarian midfielder in their squad.

Their scouting team recently attended a Champions League game to look at a midfielder who could be brought in to replace Szoboszlai in the team.

It’d be a shock if the club sell him

Szoboszlai has been a consistent player in the team since his arrival and has continued to remain a key part of their squad.

However, there have been complaints that given his role as a number 10 under Slot, he needs to score and assist more goals.

Just one goal and three assists in 12 appearances could be considered a poor return for a player expected to add creativity in midfield.

But the decision to sell him would still come as a shock as he has become a fan favourite at the club since his arrival.

Liverpool will still want to earn a hefty profit if they decide to cash in on the midfielder in the upcoming transfer windows.
