In Thursday’s Liverpool Roundup, a window may have opened up to sign Ollie Watkins, Fabrizio Romano speaks on Renato Sanches, the Reds beat Bologna 2-0 and more!
Liverpool are interested in Marco Asensio
Liverpool and Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Marco Asensio this summer, with a €40million price tag being touted.
According to Spanish news outlet El Gol Digital, both Liverpool and Arsenal are interested in signing the 25-year-old.
They claim that Los Blancos want €40million in order to part way with his services in spite of the fact that he reportedly has a €519m (£442m) release clause in his contract.
Arnaut Danjuma compared to Sadio Mane
Liverpool fans will be happy to hear that Arnaut Danjuma, a reported target of the Reds, bears a resemblance to our very own Sadio Mane.
This comes from former manager Bournemouth boss Jonathan Woodgate.
According to trusted Spanish publication Marca, both Liverpool and Villarreal are interested in signing the Bournemouth winger this summer.
Coutinho is on Liverpool’s radar again
Philippe Coutinho is on Liverpool’s radar again and they will try to sign him if they lose one of their key players.
Mundo Deportivo report that the player’s agent is working on his future and Spurs are the main club linked with the Brazilian.
The Blaugrana are willing to sell him or are willing to send him on loan but only so long as Liverpool cover his entire wage.
Watkins would make a superb signing
While Dean Smith would be loath to lose both Jack Grealish and Watkins in one window, if Ings is being signed, it’s unlikely that he’s coming in to sit on the bench.
Neil Jones of Goal reported at the start of July that the Villa hitman is a Liverpool target and if he feels as though his game time is compromised, he might push for a move of his own.
The Merseysiders are in need of a no.9 after Roberto Firmino struggled to find the back of the net last season and Watkins would be a stunning signing.
Liverpool want £12.75m for Shaqiri
Sky Sports reports that Liverpool will demand a fee in the region of £12.75m (€15m) to release Xherdan Shaqiri this summer.
A report from Corriere dello Sport suggested that he had ‘met with the Liverpool management and asked for a sale’ as ‘he wants to leave the Reds and got the green light’.
However, according to Sky Sports, this is far from the truth and Liverpool want ‘around £12.75m (€15m) to sell Xherdan Shaqiri this summer.’
Diogo Jota scores against Bologna
Diogo Jota made it 1-0 against Bologna with a cool finish after being gifted a chance in front of the goal.
He controlled well but he had some work to do as he dribbled past finished past a centre back before he finished past the ‘keeper to score the Reds’ first goal of the game.

Sadio Mane scores against Bologna
Sadio Mane scored Liverpool’s second goal against Bologna with a Fernando Torres-esque goal by taking the ball around the goalkeeper.
Mane almost waited for the goalkeeper to come off of his line which gave him more time and space to drag the ball around him and finish into the back of the net.
It was the type of finish the Kop grew to expect from Fernando Torres while the Spaniard was at Anfield and while it’s only pre-season, it’s the kind of goal that is an absolute joy to watch.

Liverpool could sign Rodriguez for €30-40m
A report from Estadio Deportivo claims that if a bid from Liverpool in the range of €30-40m (£25-33m) is submitted, Real Betis could be forced into selling Guido Rodriguez.
They are explicit in saying that they don’t want to part ways with the 27-year-old but financial pressure could force them into a sale.
Arsenal are also interested and an offer from either side – specifically a ‘noteworthy offer’ worth in the range of €30-40m would be uncomfortable.
‘Keep an eye’ on Renato Sanches
Fabrizio Romano says Liverpool fans must ‘keep an eye’ on a deal for Renato Sanches as his ‘feeling is that something new will happen’.
Speaking on his Here We Go podcast, the Italian said: “Keep an eye on Renato Sanches because he is a player Liverpool always appreciated.
“The situation is still open for Sanches if a club will jump. If there is a bid around €40m, Lille will be prepared to sell.”
