In Wednesday’s Liverpool Roundup, Danjuma was linked, fans reacted to Liverpool’s plan to offer Salah a massive new contract and we looked at how Jonathan David would fit in at Anfield.
Why Liverpool shouldn’t sign Odegaard
Liverpool are linked with Martin Odegaard again and this time, I’m actually of the opinion that it isn’t a deal that makes sense for the Reds.
Odegaard, who has apparently fallen in love with the Premier League, is viewed as a potential replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum.
Don’t get me wrong – he impressed during his spell at the Emirates and I think he’s a good player but I don’t think he’s what Liverpool need right now.
Liverpool heavily linked with Rodriguez
Liverpool are considering a move for Real Betis star Guido Rodriguez and now Arsenal and Marseille have entered the fray.
Fichajes report that Betis want €50m for Rodriguez to which Liverpool reportedly responded to by offering Divock Origi or Joel Matip in order to bring the price down.
La Razon first reported that Liverpool have ‘threaten the continuity’ of Rodriguez at Betis as they consider taking him to Anfield.
Fans react to Salah contract news
Mohamed Salah will become the highest-paid player in Liverpool history, according to Paul Gorst, as the club looks to reward him for his excellence.
Ever since joining the Reds in 2017, Salah has been nothing short of a revelation and although the club was ridiculed for spending £34million, that looks like a pittance now.
According to the Liverpool Echo’s Paul Gorst, “the club is eager to reward his 31-goal showing last term with an improved deal that will make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
How David would fit in at Liverpool
Liverpool were crying out for an instinctive no.9 last season and signing Jonathan David would give them what they need after the Canadian was linked with an Anfield switch.
On Monday evening, Sports Centre reporter Matthew Sciannitti claimed that if Lille decide to sell Jonathan David, Liverpool could pounce.
If Liverpool sign David, it could see a major tweak to their system and could see Jurgen Klopp move to a more traditional 4-3-3 with the Canadian as the focal point of his side’s attack.
Way clear for Liverpool to sign Danjuma
According to trusted Spanish publication Marca, both Liverpool and Villarreal are interested in signing the Bournemouth winger this summer.
They report that the Europa League champions have already had a €15m bid rejected and are unwilling to ‘do anything crazy’ to get their man.
Meanwhile, they claim that this leaves ‘the way clear for Liverpool’ to make their move for Danjuma but they don’t say whether or not the Reds will act on their interest.
According to Marca, Bournemouth’s asking price for the forward, who scored and assisted 25 times last season, is €25million.
Liverpool and Man Utd interested in Barella
Liverpool and Manchester United are reportedly both interested in Inter Milan star Nicolo Barella and it shouldn’t come as a surprise after his displays at the EUROs.
According to Calciomercato, as cited by the Hard Tackle, Pogba’s contractual situation has caused the Red Devils to consider Barella as an option.
Liverpool, as has been widely publicised, need to find a replacement for Wijnaldum and are yet to do so with the clock ticking on the 2021 summer transfer window.
A report from La Repubblica from July, via FC Inter News, claims that Liverpool had submitted a bid to the Italian outfit worth €70million (£60m) and while this been quashed, if there is truth behind the claim, we can assume the offer was promptly rejected as he is nearing a contract extension at the San Siro.
