Liverpool refusing to provide timescale on injury to £225,000 per week star – could be out for months – new signing key

Thiago

Liverpool fans are starting to worry about the injury sustained by Thiago after reports revealed that the club has no timescale on the injury.

Fans are worried given that Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also out injured for another month and 2-3 months respectively.

Thiago could join them following the potentially long-term injury sustained at the weekend in the 2-2 draw with Fulham.

If Thiago is set to be out for a long time, should Liverpool move to bring in a midfielder?

Latest reports on Thiago

Liverpool are refusing to put a timescale on Thiago’s injury and the midfielder will undergo a second scan later this week to get a clearer picture, but the club doesn’t think it’s “serious”.

That comes from Paul Gorst, who claims the best-case scenario will be that the Spaniard will be out for a few weeks.

Since joining Liverpool, Thiago has struggled to be available on a consistent basis; he missed 14 games in the league in his debut season and 13 last season.

That doesn’t bode well for Liverpool, especially long-term, given that they will need to re-invigorate their midfield in the coming seasons given the ages of Jordan Henderson, Thiago and James Milner.

Potential signings

If Liverpool are to be without Jones, Thiago and Chamberlain for at least another month – they may need to bring in some form of reinforcement, even if it’s on a short-term deal.

Given that their options include the talented, but ultimately young and inexperienced Fabio Carvalho and Harvey Elliot as well as the 36-year-old James Milner and mostly unreliable Naby Keita – then those options begin to look bleak.

If they want to challenge for the league and European honours, then the midfield may need to be improved.

The latest reports have seen them linked with Nicolo Barella, Jude Bellingham and Matheus Nunes but it remains to be seen if they bring anyone in.
