Liverpool had a blockbuster transfer window this summer with substantial incomings and outgoings in financial terms. The Reds broke the British transfer record twice as they saw a highly successful window close on the 1st of September.
However, despite the closure of the major windows across Europe, there are a select few still open to incoming players. Liverpool would’ve wished for such an opportunity, but now there can only be departures from Anfield.
The Reds missed out on defender Marc Guéhi on deadline day as Crystal Palace pulled back from the deal. The Eagles couldn’t find a replacement of their own for the skipper, which resulted in manager Oliver Glasner falling out with the club chairman.
An extended transfer window would’ve offered both clubs to settle their differences, as Guéhi will be a free agent next summer anyway.
Coming back to the present, Liverpool has received interest from Turkey for their winger Federico Chiesa. As Fabrizio Romano reported, Beşiktaş are eyeing the Euro Cup winner and have intensified their pursuit in the last few days.
“I can also reveal to you that Beşiktaş also called for Federico Chiesa. Beşiktaş in the last 24, 48 hours tried to call for Federico Chiesa to understand the situation at Liverpool. What I can tell you is that Liverpool are not letting Federico go on loan. At the moment, negotiations are not advanced”, said Romano in his YouTube video.

Federico Chiesa under Arne Slot

The interest from Beşiktaş comes as no surprise following an underwhelming season at Liverpool. The Italian winger was bought in for £10m plus potential add-ons from Juventus in August 2024.
Chiesa’s Juventus contract was set to expire in 2025. In October 2023, with almost two seasons left in his contract, there were talks about an extension with the Old Lady.
Federico, on the other hand, denied any renewal talks publicly. The winger claimed that he was informed about not being a part of Thiago Motta’s long-term plans.
Arne Slot had described the signing as a player with strong experience, mentality and work rate. However, words didn’t translate to action as Chiesa saw only 14 appearances in the following season with less than 500 minutes played.
The Italian’s first Premier League goal came against Borunmouth. In Liverpool’s opener against the Cherries, Chiesa came off the bench to secure the Reds a 4-2 win to start their EPL campaign.
Although things haven’t been developmental as Federico was dropped out of the UEFA Champions League List ‘A’ squad. The decision was taken considering UEFA’s restrictions, as Slot favoured Rio Ngumoha over the Italian.
