Liverpool are reportedly showing a keen interest in signing Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala in 2025, a move that could break their transfer record.
Musiala, widely regarded as one of the most talented young players in football, has attracted attention from top European clubs like Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Paris Saint-Germain.
The 21-year-old German international first made headlines in 2020 as Bayern’s youngest-ever Bundesliga debutant and goalscorer.
With his contract at Bayern expiring in June 2026, the German giants face increasing pressure to secure his long-term future amid interest from European heavyweights.

The club is reportedly ready to launch a bid in 2025 that would surpass their current transfer record.
Bayern Munich, however, are expected to demand around €180 million (£150 million) for the versatile attacker, who is comfortable playing across multiple positions but excels in a central role.
It would be one of the most ambitious moves recently but following news that the Reds tried to sign Kylian Mbappe for a similar price in 2022, this is perhaps proof of Liverpool’s desire to find a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
Not necessarily in terms of position but as the team’s talisman.
Bayern will not let Musiala leave without a fight
While Liverpool plot their move, Bayern Munich is working hard to keep Musiala at the Allianz Arena. New manager Vincent Kompany and the club’s hierarchy are focused on securing a long-term contract for the player. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Bayern are in ongoing negotiations with Musiala, but no agreement has been reached yet.
Writing in his Daily Briefing column Romano confirmed Bayern’s desire to hold onto Musiala.
“Another top German talent to watch remains Jamal Musiala, with Bayern speaking publicly about wanting him to sign a new contract and stay with the club for the long term,” Romano said.

“For now, however, no decision has been made, it’s a negotiation. Nothing has changed for now, there have been no significant developments.
“Of course Bayern are confident, they want Musiala to stay and his contact is a really important topic for the board, they simply can’t fail on this mission. Negotiations are ongoing, but it’s too early to say how it will finish.”
Bayern’s president, Herbert Hainer, also expressed his desire to see Musiala follow in the footsteps of Thomas Müller, who has become a club legend over his two-decade-long career. Hainer described Musiala as a potential “second Thomas Müller,” hoping to keep the young star at Bayern for the long term.
With Musiala’s future still uncertain, Liverpool will be watching closely as they prepare for a possible record-breaking move that could reshape their squad for years to come.
