Liverpool pull off shock transfer masterclass with £55m signing to Arsenal

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has been working hard behind the scenes to deliver the priorities this summer. He is now on the verge of pulling off a real transfer masterclass by landing a top striker for a relatively small fee in the next window.

The Merseyside giants have identified signing a striker as a priority, and the club have been looking at several forwards ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window.

Alexander Isak is the top target for Liverpool, but it seems clear that Newcastle United will not sell him even if the Swede wants to move to Anfield ahead of next season.

Liverpool have continued to monitor several strikers, but the Reds have heard some good news on the transfer fee required to land a top forward this summer.

The Reds hear good news on striker target

Viktor Gyokeres will leave Sporting Lisbon in the upcoming summer transfer window, and he is almost certain to return to England ahead of next season.

Arsenal are on the verge of agreeing personal terms with the forward, but Liverpool are still pushing hard to convince him to move to Anfield.

And according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the striker is expected to be available for less money than previously anticipated.

It has been claimed that the forward’s representatives have an agreement in place with Sporting Lisbon to leave the club if they receive an offer in the region of £55m this summer.

That is a reasonable fee for a player who has scored 53 goals in 51 appearances in all competitions in the ongoing campaign.

Liverpool are keen to jump all over it and beat Arsenal to the signature of the forward in the upcoming summer transfer window.

They are set to sell Darwin Nunez to fund the arrival of a new striker.
