Liverpool have reportedly pulled out of the race to sign a Premier League defender after being priced out of a potential deal. The Reds were believed to be strongly interested in the player, but negotiations have now stalled due to the selling club’s high valuation, delivering a shock blow to Arne Slot’s summer plans.
The Premier League champions are in the market for a centre-back this summer, and Nottingham Forest’s Murillo is one of the players the club have been tracking.
They missed out on signing Dean Huijsen earlier in the window when he decided to move to Real Madrid, and have been linked with an interest in Marc Guehi.
However, the trail leading towards Murillo has gone cold, and it appears Liverpool will not be signing the Premier League defender in the ongoing transfer window.

Liverpool are unlikely to sign Premier League defender Murillo in a shock transfer deal

It emerged earlier in the year that Liverpool were actively scouting the Nottingham Forest defender and were impressed by his performances last season.
However, the trail went cold towards the end of the season, and it seems highly unlikely that the Brazilian will be in a Liverpool shirt next season.
The Merseyside giants are still interested in the defender, but according to The Athletic, a transfer is highly unlikely.
Liverpool are worried that Forest will ask for too much money, and they do not want to overpay for the Brazilian in the ongoing transfer window.
They are trying to bring in a centre-back, and signing Guehi seems more plausible because of his contract situation at Palace and the expected transfer fee.
Murillo is admired at Anfield, but Liverpool have no interest in paying the £70m fee Palace are likely to demand for him this summer.
