Liverpool not in crisis says former captain

A former Liverpool captain has dismissed talks of Anfield being in crisis. Reds lost 3-2 away at Brentford as they slid down to sixth position on the table with four losses on the bounce.

Liverpool are looking like a shadow of the team which cruised to a title last season. The team is failing to find the winning combination. New signings are still adjusting to life at the club, while old hands are not maintaining their lofty standards.

Under these circumstances, the team has found support from a former Merseyside man.

Ex Liverpool captain backs club

Jordan Henderson spent 12 years at Anfield. Arriving from Sunderland, the England international captained the team to their first Premier League title in 2020.

“You look all over the pitch, there’s not much to go at, they’re all quality players. I don’t really see a weakness in the team”, said the 35-year old while speaking to TNT Sports.

The midfielder joined Brentford at the start of the season and had a bitter-sweet reunion with his former mates.

“Yes, I know there’s been results of late that haven’t been great for them but, for me, they’re still top players and a top, top team and it’s just a matter of time before they get in a rhythm and get going.”

“I think there have been reasons why they haven’t hit the heights from last year, but they’re still a world-class team”, he added.

Still a special club for Henderson

Henderson’s exit from Liverpool was rumoured to be an ugly one. However despite the rumours the midfielder feels for the club.

“I had been at Liverpool for so long, it’s always deep inside us now and will be forever,” he exclaimed.

“I was there 12 years, dedicated a lot of my life. My kids were born there, so it holds a special place in my heart,” sharing the special bond he shares with the club.

Henderson played an important role on Saturday night. His presence was commanding in the middle of the park. Despite his age, the much younger Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones failed to dominate him.

Liverpool could have done with someone of Henderson’s fighting spirit. Afterall he is the only Kop captain to win six different trophies for the club.
