6 G/A in last two starts – Liverpool need to be wary of Manchester United danger man

Edinson Cavani has just signed a new Manchester United contract and Liverpool need to be wary of him as he is in sensational form ahead of their trip to Old Trafford.

The Uruguayan signed a one-year contract extension with United and while the former PSG striker might be 34, he’s still top class and his current form poses a huge threat to the Reds’ hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.

Cavani was phenomenal against AS Roma in both legs as United booked their place in the Europa League final, scoring four goals and grabbing two assists.

He’s since come off the bench twice, scoring once against Aston Villa to help his side to a 3-1 win over Dean Smith’s men.

Liverpool will be without Ozan Kabak this evening which is a major issue for Jurgen Klopp but thankfully Nathaniel Phillips will be available.

The 23-year-old is tremendous in the air and he will need to be at his best to ensure Cavani’s aerial threat is minimised.

The rescheduled game against United is a must-win for the Reds. They are seven points behind Chelsea in the race to finish the season inside the top four and in order to remain in contention, Liverpool will need to overcome Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Chelsea and Leicester City face each other this weekend in the FA Cup Final before they meet up again in the Premier League on Tuesday next week.

That game has huge ramifications for the way the top four will look like come the 23rd of May but in order for it to mean anything for Liverpool, they first need to beat United.
