Liverpool move for midfield star

Liverpool are planning to remain quiet in the January transfer window. However, those plans could change if they get an indication that a long-term target could be available for a transfer in the middle of the season.

Arne Slot is pleased with the options he has and believes there is enough strength and depth in his squad to sustain a title challenge in the latter half of the season.

However, the club are also mindful that they do not lose out on a top target if he suddenly becomes available for a transfer in the winter window and they want to be flexible about it.

It seems Liverpool are also exploring to see whether one of their other long-term midfield targets would be available to move in the middle of the season.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is working behind the scenes to check whether there is a possibility of strengthening the squad in the winter window.

Hughes is getting in touch with agents and intermediaries to assess the possibility of January deals.

According to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, the Merseyside giants have approached the agent of Atalanta midfielder Ederson to discuss a January move.

The Brazilian midfielder has been on Liverpool’s radar and the club have made their move to check whether a transfer is feasible in the winter window.

Liverpool are trying to understand the margins of any potential deal that could take place in January.

Manchester United are also in contact with the midfielder’s agent and are trying to assess whether he would be keen to leave the Italian club in the winter window.

The Brazilian is also on Manchester City’s agenda but Liverpool are looking to check whether they can get him early in the winter window.

However, Atalanta do not want to sell in the middle of the season and will only consider offers of more than €50m in the summer.
