Football pundit reckons Liverpool midfielder is a ‘diamond’ who is waiting to explode for the club. While most pundits have been training their guns against Liverpool after a hattrick of losses, he feels there is a shining moment waiting to happen.
The past few days have not been kind to Liverpool and its fans. Losses to Crystal Palace and Chelsea have seen them sliding down to second in the table behind Arsenal. The defensive setup is facing criticism, the forward line is not as prolific, with the midfield looking shaky as well.
Be it the new signings or proven warhorses, the players are simply not playing up to their potential. But a pundit feels one of those players is a ‘diamond’ waiting to shine on the big stage.

Liverpool midfielder is a ‘diamond’

Arriving amidst much fanfare, Florian Wirtz broke the club transfer record with a reported fee of north of £100m. The record was soon broken by Alexander Isak’s arrival weeks later but expectations were still sky high.
And now former Newcastle goalie Shay Given has chimed in. Regardless of what others are thinking Given feels Wirtz is a top player, “I do like Wirtz, he’s getting a lot of stick at the minute, but there’s a diamond in there and I think he will be a top player for years to come.”
Although the criticism coming the German’s way is not without reason. Appearing in ten games for the Reds, he has had just one assist to his name, failing to find the net even once. From a former World Cup winner to a recent Hall of Famer, German legends notably have put forward their opinions.
A lot of pundits and fans are considering him to be a flop and only time will tell whether Liverpool wasted the money down the drain.
